HIGHFILL, AR -- A veteran finally touched down in Northwest Arkansas after six years of service.

Specialist Anthony Mason was welcomed home by family, friends and a salute from the Patriot Guard. Mason was injured during a deployment in Afghanistan. He was stationed with his family in Germany, Hawaii and returned home to Arkansas Saturday afternoon. He recently medically retired due to those injuries he sustained while serving overseas.

"I was very grateful for the people that showed up and it made me feel good about what I've accomplished," said Specialist Mason.

"His dad and I are proud of him, but I'm glad he's home," said Vivian Mason, Anthony's mom.

When asked what he was looking forward to most it was eating Chick-fil-A, something they do not have on the other side of the country.
