SPRINGDALE - The Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks (VHSO), veterans and community leaders worked together Thursday to improve the quality of mental health care for vets.

The VHSO hosted the second annual Mental Health Summit at the Jones Center in Springdale. Health care workers, veterans and their families attended workshops on benefits, education and treatment options. Organizers say it's important to have open lines of communication between providers and the veterans receiving the care.

"We really want to collaborate with the community to better improve services for veterans, we know the community has a lot to offer and so does the VA so we wanted to partner with one another to make sure we're meeting every need we possibly can," said Mindi Littleton, local recovery coordinator for VHSO.

There was also a mini-job fair for veterans seeking employment.
