FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas softball team closed out its season Sunday afternoon with a 5-1 loss to No. 7/5 Florida at Bogle Park. Arkansas ends the season with a 27-28 overall record and a 5-19 mark in Southeastern Conference play. Prior to the game, the Razorbacks honored Geile with her Senior Day ceremony.

At season’s end, the 2014 team becomes the first in program history to post a batting average of .300 or higher. Facing a four-run deficit entering the bottom of the fourth, the Razorbacks put together its first rally of the game starting with a lead-off double by Canfield. Arkansas had runners at first and second with two outs after a walk to Kasey Fagan. Wallace came through with a single down the line in right field to drive in Canfield for the team’s only run.

Down to their final three outs, the Razorbacks attempted another rally. The home team had runners on first and second with one out after a walk to Wallace and single off the bat of Geile. However, the game came to an end on a ground ball chopped to third base which started a double play.

Florida (45-10, 15-9 SEC) scored four runs on three hits in the third inning to take the early advantage on the scoreboard. Three of the runs came on a home run by Gator designated hitter Lauren Haeger. Arkansas starter Sydney Wright worked the first three innings of Sunday’s game before being relieved by Grace Moll for the final four frames.
