FAYETTEVILLE - Head coach Bret Bielema announced Thursday that offensive lineman Zach Rogers has inked a financial aid agreement and is set to enroll in the spring 2015 semester beginning in January.
A consensus four-star recruit out of Hebron (Texas) HS, Rogers was the top-rated center in the nation by Scout.com. According to Rivals.com, the Lewisville, Texas, native is pegged as the No. 2 center on the national charts and No. 30 overall prospect in Texas.
”I am very excited to have Zach joining the Razorbacks in January,” said Coach Bielema. “We think he is one of the best offensive linemen in the class of 2015 and shows the mental and physical toughness that we expect our linemen to exhibit on and off the field. Zach continues to demonstrate all of the things that we hold to a higher standard here at Arkansas. Academics, athletic success and social behavior are the backbone of what becoming a Hog is all about and he will be a great addition to our family. Our #TexHogs are continuing to grow and we hope to add more with the rest of the 2015 class,” he added.
As a junior, Rogers helped Hebron advance to the second round of the Texas Class 5A Division II playoffs. He paved the way for Treyvon Hughes to rush for 1,445 yards in 2013.
Rogers selected Arkansas over other scholarship offers including Baylor, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas Tech and UCLA.
The Razorbacks will open the 2014-15 season on the road at Auburn on August 30 at 3 p.m., and will be broadcasted on the SEC Network.
