Ark. Democrats Have a Gubernatorial Candidate

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) -- The Democratic Party of Arkansas now has a gubernatorial candidate in Jared Henderson

The Little Rock resident owns and manages a medical practice with his wife.

His background includes time working for NASA, business strategy firm McKinsey & Company and a nonprofit focussed on public education.

The Democratic Party of Arkansas is set to introduce Henderson to party members at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. There's no word yet on any official announcements of candidacy from the party.

This all comes after former Rep. Jay Martin, R-North Little Rock, announced he wouldn't seek the office of governor. He had been looking at the possibility of running.

After Martin took himself out of the running, Chairman of the Democratic Party Michael John Gray told KNWA/KFTA there was another candidate working with the party on running for governor. Gray did not reveal his identity.

Hutchinson already has a Libertarian opponent in Mark West and a possible Republican primary challenger in Jan Morgan
