Benton County Sheriff's Office Warns Residents of Phone Scheme

BENTON COUNTY, Ark.-- - The Benton County Sheriff's Office is warning residents on a possible scheme.

Deputies say someone is calling residents and identifying themselves as a Benton County deputy. The person will then say you have a warrant out of Judge Green's court and you need to get a green dot money order from Walgreens.

The Sheriff's Office said they will never ask anyone to mail a money order for a warrant, or ask for a credit card over the phone. Police said if you receive a call like this, hang up and call police.
