Diversity Shock Gala Held to Benefit 7Hills

Fayetteville, AR -- - One newly founded organization is giving back to those who help the homeless population in our community. The Bright Apple Project is using music to bring people together for the 7Hills Homeless Center.

Even though the organization has only been up and running for about a month, they are hitting the ground running trying to make a difference in the Northwest Arkansas community.

The Bright Apple Project held their first Diversity Shock Gala at George's Majestic Lounge in Fayetteville on Sunday. The proceeds went to 7Hills.

"We've got about 3 thousand people that are homeless in Northwest Arkansas. I just wanted to do something to help contribute to our society and my community because I want to see our community coming together." Kady Bright, Founder of the Bright Apple Project said.

With the recent death of a homeless person in Fayetteville, organizers of the Gala are hoping to spread a little positivity within the homeless community with this event.

"We don't see a lot of people come together with different interests until there are catastrophes. I just want to start bringing people together for more than just the negative things." Bright said.

People enjoyed live music ranging from bluegrass, jazz, techno, and rock.  Live artists also painted and sold their art all to benefit 7Hills. According to 7 Hills, it's fundraisers like these that really benefits their organization. 7Hills said seeing people from across the community come together for one cause is ultimately what's going to make a difference.

"That's just a big thing about what we want to do is really attack this homelessness issue as much as we can because it's something that can be solved but it takes the whole community coming together to make that happen." Rachel Bruton, Social Media and Marketing Intern for 7 Hills Homeless Center said.

The founder of the Bright Apple Project said this event is just a preview of what they hope to accomplish in the future. They've already started planning for a Culture Shock Gala to take place in February.
