NEWTON COUNTY, Ark.-- - (via KOLR) -- Winds that leveled a post office and heavily damaged a church and several barns, was a tornado, Weather Service experts said.

The storm hit the small Newton County, Arkansas community of Parthenon.

National Weather Service assessment teams said the tornado measured EF-2 on the impact scale, with winds of up to 120 miles per hour.  The width of the tornado was just under a half mile.

The winds destroyed the town's post office and heavily damaged a church.  At least four nearby barns were also destroyed.
