BENTONVILLE, AR -- Nearly 3,000 people slipped on their sneakers and hit the streets.

The 4th Annual Bentonville Running Festival kicked off at 7 a.m. at the Walton's Five and Dime. Folks could run in a half marathon, 5K or fun run.

The event not only benefits local charities and the city's Parks and Recreation department, but it boosts spirits for a healthier City of Bentonville.

"This is an event that encourages our community to be healthy all year long and so it's something that they can strive for and it's about just encouraging a healthy community for our residents to live in," said David Wright, Director of Bentonville Parks and Recreation.

Money raised from the run will help provide a free Easter egg hunt, free concerts and free movies for families in Bentonville.
