American Red Cross in Need of Blood Donations

NORTHWEST ARKANSAS -- The American Red Cross is looking for donors to help beef up its blood supply. During summer months fewer donors give blood meaning the needs of patients is not met. Vacations and summer activities are among the reasons regular donors may not find the time to give. That's why the group is calling on all eligible donors to to make an appointment to donate blood.

August 5 from 2 - 6 p.m. at Walmart, 406 S. Walton Blvd. in Bentonville
August 1 from 2 - 6 p.m. at Walmart, 2901 Highway 412 E. in Siloam Springs
August 2 from 12 - 4 p.m. at Walmart, 2901 Highway 412 E. in Siloam Springs

August 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Tyson, 601 Tyson Drive in Green Forest

How to donate blood
Simply call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.orgto make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent in some states), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
