Backpack Giveaway Preps Kids for the Spring Semester

ROGERS, AR. -- Over 1,000 Rogers students will have a new backpack to start the new year with. The Kids in Need Foundation distributed the backpacks at both Jones Elementary and Old Wire Elementary in Rogers Wednesday to some very excited students.

This is the second year the organization has made a stop in Northwest Arkansas. "The kids really have to have the basic materials when they get in the classroom or they can't learn and succeed when they get in the classroom. We can't ask our kids to learn unless they have the tools to actually learn in the classroom," said Dave Smith the Executive Director for the Kids in Need Foundation.

Each backpack was also filled with 25 different basic classroom items like notebooks, pencils and markers.
