The Washington County Historical Society held it's forty-third annual ice cream social.
Ellen compton, Historical Society Board Member, said "It is a true grassroots, Fayetteville community feel good, end of summer, eat ice cream, eat cakes old fashioned get together."
Those who came out enjoyed cake, ice cream and live music .
The society says the social was a way to raise awareness about the preservation of Washington County history.
