Fayetteville City Council Approves Alcohol at City Park Events

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Members of the Fayetteville City Council voted unanimously to approve a change to the city code that allows alcoholic beverages at city parks, but the ordinance will only apply for special events like concerts.

The parks and recreation department did research looking at cities like Little Rock, North Little Rock and Fort Smith, which have all passed similar successful ordinances.

Some residents worry the code could affect quality of life, while others believed the change could make a positive impact on the economy.
