Five Arrested in Car Theft in Springdale

SPRINGDALE - Springdale police arrest five people in connection to a stolen car investigation Tuesday.

According to police, an officer was patrolling a motel parking lot on South Thompson around 9 a.m. When he ran the license plate on a 2001 gold Oldsmobile Alero parked there, it came back as stolen out of Fulton County, Arkansas. While the officer was watching the car, investigators say five people got into it and drove south on Thompson. Once police pulled the car over, they searched it and arrested all five people inside for theft by receiving and other charges.

The arrests and charges are as follows:
Van Weaver, 31, charges of theft by receiving (felony), probation violation (felony), and other agency warrants (misdemeanor).

Anthony Ivers, 31, charges of theft by receiving (felony), possession of controlled substance (felony), possession of drug paraphernalia (felony), and other agency warrants (misdemeanor).

Tommy Maples, 28, charges of theft by receiving (felony), possession of controlled substance (felony), and possession of drug paraphernalia (felony).

Cory Ryan, charges of theft by receiving (felony).

Mashaun Mosbey, 22, charges of theft by receiving (felony), and criminal use of prohibited weapon (misdemeanor).

All five were taken to the Washington County jail.
