Food Donations for Families in Need

FAYETTEVILLE, AR-- More than 700 pounds of food from the Fayetteville Farmers Market, were donated to families struggling to make ends meet on Sunday.

It's a record-breaking amount, and half of the food went to Life Source the other half went to Tri Cycle Farms. Twenty percent of Northwest Arkansans are food insecure, meaning they don't know where their next meal is coming from. It's something Don Bennett has experienced himself and he is now working to change the statistic through working with Tri Cycle Farms.

Thanks to today's donations, families in need filled up a sack of fresh food for free.

Don Bennett, founder of Tri Cycle Farms said, "We just want to make, make somebody's day, make somebody's week and we want to continue to do it. I mean it's through the generosity of the farmers at the farmers market and we want everyone to feel like they can connect to local farming and local food."
