Around 800 5th graders from Springdale Public Schools participated in the Kiwanis Club Little Olympics. Elementary school PE teachers served as the coaches and the event not only encourages kids to get outside and exercise, but it creates lasting memories.
"I've heard the story told that on occasion, presidents of student bodies at high school at their graduation mention one of their fondest memories is attending Little Olympics," said Bill Carter with the Kiwanis Club of Springdale.
It was a bright and early start for the students Saturday morning, with activities kicking off at 7:30 a.m.
