AROUND ARKANSAS -- Some new polling information could be previewing a match-up between Governor Mike Beebe and Senator John Boozman in a 2016 race for Senate.
A public policy polling survey finds that Governor Beebe is the highest approved governor in the country, getting overwhelming support among independents, and even among Republicans, a rarity these days.
Arkansans, enthusiastic about the prospect of a native son running for president.
42% of respondents to a public policy poll would like to see former Governor Mike Huckabee make another bid for the White House. 33% of Republicans in the state say Huckabee would be their top choice for president. That's compared to 12% for Ted Cruz, 10% for Jeb Bush, and 7% for Chris Christie.
Huckabee would defeat former Arkansan Hillary Clinton in a hypothetical matchup between the two in the state.
Clinton fares better against other rivals Ted Cruz and Jeb Bush. Former President Bill Clinton remains popular in the Natural State, with a 50% favorability rating.
