ROGERS, AR-- Ahead of the Walmart Northwest Arkansas Championship, sponsored by P&G, it's all about the Pro-Am.

Kicking off today, the two-day fun is part of building the excitement for the weekend ahead.

This is the eighth year for the championship, and organizers say this is the biggest year yet.

Wednesday and Thursday are Pro-Am days, open to the public and free for spectators.

Tournament chairman, Jay Allen says it's a great opportunity for amateur golfers to walk inside the ropes and play with the pros.

The championship tournament will start on Friday, and goes through Sunday.

Allen says each year their mission is to make the event bigger and better and this year tops the last seven with lots of excitement surrounding the 17th hole.

Allen said, "It's a place where the typical rules of golf go out the window. We do want the players to be able to hit and putt in quiet but other than that it's going to be like being at a football game."

Allen is looking forward to tee time and expecting to hear hog calls for pro golfer Stacy Lewis from Northwest Arkansas fans.
