FAYETTEVILLE, AR -- Panera Bread in Fayetteville is partnering with the Samaritan Community Center to feed hungry kids in Northwest Arkansas.

Friday, Panera is donating to the non-profit with each purchase of brownies, smoothies, or flatbread sandwiches.  It's all part of the company's "Second Friday" fundraising event.

The donations will provide "snack packs" to food insecure kids. According to the Arkansas Department of Education, almost 20% of students in Northwest Arkansas come from households with an income at least 185% below the federal poverty line, but thanks to the efforts of the Samaritan Community Center, over 6,500 snack packs are passed out to these students every weekend.
