Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke Perform at Walmart Shareholders Meeting

FAYETTEVILLE, AR-- Walmart's annual Shareholders Meeting is always expected to be epic, and this year's celeb-centric event didn't disappoint.

What was speculation became reality as Pharrell Williams opened the 2014 event.

Thousands of associates cheered as the next surprise guest took the stage, master of ceremonies, Harry Connick Jr.

Before long, the energy in the room changed as the meeting turned to business.

Charmaine Givens-Thomas said, "After Eight years at Walmart, I only make $23,000 per year."

Associates and shareholders made their voices heard, asking Walmart to make some changes.

One Walmart shareholder said, "We need to know what kind of policies the company is lobbying for and against and through which organizations."

Cambria Allen said, "We've still have never been informed whether Walmart has called back pay from any employee despite Walmart having pay recovery policies for over a decade."

Charmaine Givens-Thomas said, "Something is wrong when the richest family in America pays hundreds of thousands of associates so little they can barely survive."

Walmart did not respond to the proposals and none of them were approved by shareholders.

Walmart spokesperson said, "In the interest of time, the company will not provide a statement or response today."

Before long, it was back to the beat. Pharrell Williams made another appearance, this time with Robin Thicke. The meeting also included performances from artists Sarah McLachlan, Aloe Blacc and Florida Georgia Line.

By the sound of the cheering from the crowd, it's safe to say most associates and shareholders were more than happy when they left.

After today's meeting, CEO, Doug McMillon said he's looking forward to the future with Walmart's "Now, New and Always" approach.
