Razorback Fans Scream for Change

Sports Talk with Bo Mattingly lets the callers loose

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Fox 24) -- - Most will say the University of Arkansas Board of Trustees proceedings came to an anti-climactic conclusion on Thursday morning. Regardless, the Razorback faithful still had a lot to say.

"This is one of the worst seasons I've ever witnessed in Arkansas football," one caller said.

"As an Arkansas graduate, I'm pretty embarrassed where we are as a program," said another.

"Unacceptable today! Unacceptable tomorrow," an enthusiastic caller exclaimed.

The phone lines were sounding off all day at the popular radio show, Sports Talk with Bo Mattingly.

Just about everyone has something to say about the Hogs.

As the Razorbacks continue their struggle, fans are getting louder in sharing their opinions on the athletic program.

"I feel like where we are in this state right now is people are mad as heck, and they just don't want to take it anymore. They're really not quite sure who's to blame, but they're starting at the top," said Mattingly.

A three-hour University of Arkansas board of trustees meeting in Little Rock gave the impression the seat has never been hotter for Arkansas Athletic Director, Jeff Long.

"I want the best for the program but we need changes from the top-down," one caller admitted. "I would be fine with Jeff being gone."

"Long is gone! Long is gone," a different caller chanted.

No action was taken Thursday for Long or head football coach, Bret Bielema, and fans are left wondering what was said behind closed doors.

"Nobody knows why Jeff Long was at that meeting today. Nobody. And all this speculation and all these rumors needs to come to an end," said one down-trodden Hog fan.

Others just want things to go back to the good old days.

"In 1971, I was six years old and I was in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and we beat the Longhorns when they rolled into Little Rock, Arkansas in their white Cadillacs and orange suits and we beat them 41 to 7. Moments in time!" said Eddie from Clarksville.

At this point, the Razorback faithful can all agree, now, it just comes down to pride.

"I love the football team, and I love my state, and if anybody doesn't like it, they can kiss my rural behind. That's it for me Bo, thanks for taking my call and Woo Pig."
