NORTHWEST ARKANSAS-- September is sickle cell awareness month, and the Red Cross is asking for blood donations.
Sickle cell affects as many as 100-thousand people in the U.S.
Many of these patients face a lifetime of blood transfusions to help reduce the risk of stroke, and other complications.
Donors will receive a coupon for a free haircut from the red cross.
