ROGERS, AR -- It is Firefighter Safety and Health Week in Rogers, and the local fire department is using a social media campaign to share how it protects firefighters in dangerous environments. The focus of the 2014 Safety and Health Week is "Train Like You Fight" and is geared toward community awareness of measures taken to protect firefighters.
The first responders follow a strict training program during the year to keep them up to date on the best strategies for protecting civilians and property. This week specifically focuses on the firefighters response to hazardous liquid material and leaks.
The goal of the Firefighter Safety and Health Week campaign is to offer transparency to the community, showing citizens that their tax dollars are being used to save lives.
