A local water park, site of a drowning death earlier this summer, is rebranding itself.

The Siloam Springs Kayak Park rolled out a new website along with a name change. It was called the Siloam Springs Whitewater Recreation Park when Evan Thomas, a 16-year-old Siloam Springs High School student, drowned there in June, He disappeared underwater while at the park with friends.

There are no lifeguards or other full-time staff at the park, which does not require life jackets. Since the drowning, Siloam Springs city officials have urged visitors to always wear life jackets and follow park rules.
