Sinkholes Eats Up 8 Corvettes

BOWLING GREEN, KY -- A hole opened up in the ground in southern Kentucky, swallowing up eight corvettes at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green Wednesday.

The museum's executive director says the sinkhole appeared before dawn under the Skydome section of the site. The hole is about 40-feet wide and between 25-to-30-feet deep. The executive director says six of the cars were donated to the museum.

For now, it's unclear what the value of the damaged cars is, but the executive director called it "substantial."

A structural engineer was called to the scene to assess the situation.
