The Pulse: Earthquake Off Chilean Coast

An earthquake off the coast of Chile, generating a tsunami in Tuesday's edition of "The Pulse."

An 8.0-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Chile on Tuesday and generated a tsunami, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake was centered some 62 miles northwest of Iquique at a depth of 6.2 miles. A tsunami warning was in effect for Chile, Peru and Ecuador. There were no immediate reports of injuries.

Lawmakers are demanding answers from one of the nation's largest automakers. As to why a faulty car part continued to be used in their cars even after they became aware of several deaths. General Motors' CEO appeared before a congressional committee, as emotional family members of those killed looked on.
"We are many and there are still more," Laura Christian, the mother of a woman killed in an accident linked to the defects. "This is just the tip of the iceberg. We are the people left behind when a lover one got into what was supposed to be a safe car."
GM CEO Mary Barra said: "My sincere apologies to everyone who has been affected by this recall especially to the families and friends of those who lost their lives or were injured. I am deeply sorry."
Barra will appear before a Senate committee Wednesday. The family members who attended are also calling on the Justice Department to launch a criminal investigation into General Motors.

Following the deadline to sign up for health insurance, President Obama touting Affordable Care Act's success. The president announcing more than 7 million people have enrolled in a health plan. Earlier, the White House announced it will extend the deadline for people who were unable to enroll in the new health care program until to April 15th.

Back surgery will bench golf champion Tiger Woods from the Masters for the first time in his career. This announcement comes just one day after successful surgery for a pinched nerve. He says he decided to have the procedure after some problems he had while preparing for the tournament. Woods is a four-time green jacket winner.

Fans of "The Voice" can get "Happy." NBC tweeted that Pharrell Williams will be the newest coach on the singing competition show. The Oscar-nominated singer and producer retweeted, adding "this is going to be so fun." Williams served as a guest mentor on the show in 2013.
