Questions surround an execution in Oklahoma Tuesday. Death row inmate Clayton Lockett died of a massive heart attack after prison officials stopped giving him lethal injection drugs due to complications. Almost 15 years ago, he and two other people robbed and beat a man in front of his 9-month-old son. They also kidnapped and repeatedly raped two 18-year-old women, shooting one of them twice within a shotgun before burying her in the ground.
Senate Republicans have blocked legislation that would raise the federal minimum wage, but Democrats vow to continue this wage war on Capitol Hill. The legislation would boost the federal minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.10 an hour. Republicans and economists say increasing the minimum wage will increase unemployment. But Democrats say they will continue to push for the increase.
The "new" cast for the next "Star Wars" movie has been announced. More than 30 years after "the Force" introduced us to Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia, the original cast is coming together to star in the latest addition to the franchise. Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher have agreed to reprise their roles in the upcoming "Star Wars: Episode Seven." The trio last starred together in "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi." The film is due in theaters in December 2015.
In Florida, Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston has been cited for shoplifting crab legs from a public grocery store. The Florida State University quarterback was not charged, but did receive a civil citation. He's now suspended from the school's baseball team. Sources tell CNN the player will probably either have to pay a fine, complete community service or attend a class for the crab legs incident.
Heavy rains and severe flooding have battered roads in Florida. In Pensacola, the rushing waters caused parts of a scenic highway to buckle and collapse. This scene was repeated in several places along this coastal east-west highway route. The national weather service says as much as 18 inches of rain fell in the Gulf Coast region in 24 hours.
