The Pulse: Plane Crash Investigation Continues

Some of the world's best sand sculptors showed off their skills in beach art over the weekend at the National Sand Sculpting Festival in Revere, Massachusetts. The annual competition draws about half-a-million visitors to see amazing works produced with just one primary materal -- sand!

Forty-five years after the first moon landing, NASA is honoring the man who took "one giant leap" for mankind. NASA renamed the historic operations and checkout building at Kennedy Space Center after the late Neil Armstrong, in a special ceremony today (Monday). The facility was used during the Apollo program to prepare the command, service and lunar modules for launch. Armstrong's colleagues on Apollo 11, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins, attended the ceremony. Armstrong and his team made the historic moon landing on July 20, 1969.

Texas Governor Rick Perry is expected to order one thousand National Guard troops to the US border with Mexico to deal with the surge of unaccompanied minors. The Republican has been an outspoken proponent of securing the border since the influx of immigrants began. Thousands of unaccompanied minors have crossed the border since October. Both Perry and President Barack Obama have the authority to deploy National Guard troops, but whoever authorizes it has to pay for it.

US Secretary of State John Kerry traveled to Egypt, today, hoping to push for a ceasefire in the Middle East. After an emergency meeting Sunday night, the UN Security Council expressed concern about the rising death toll and called for an end to the violence. This - as two US citizens are among 13 IDF soldiers killed on Sunday. Max Steinberg, a native of California, served as a sniper in the Israeli Defense Forces. Sean Carmeli of Texas served in the IDF, as well. The Gaza Health Ministry says more than 500 Palestinians have been killed. The United Nations estimates about 70% of those were civilians. Israeli forces say they've destroyed several tunnels used by militants to smuggle weapons and facilitate attacks in Israel.

It appears are no closer to answering some key questions about the crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17. That crash, that killed all 298 people aboard, has turned a volatile Ukrainian region into an international issue. For more on the latest on this, click the video on this page.
