The Pulse: The White House on Lockdown

In Tuesday's edition of "The Pulse:" Why the White House was put on lockdown; and Monica Lewinsky tells Vanity Fair about her presidential affair.

The White House went on lockdown Tuesday after a car followed a motorcade into a secure area of the White House grounds. A source with knowledge of the situation tells CNN the motorcade was carrying President Obama's daughters. The same source says the car's driver has a security pass for the Treasury Department, located next to the White House on Pennsylvania Avenue. The driver is now custody and the lockdown has been lifted.

Monica Lewinsky is writing for the first time about her affair in the 1990s with President Bill Clinton. The now 40-year-old Lewinsky says in an upcoming issue of Vanity Fair she "deeply regrets" what happened. Lewinsky began a sexual relationship with Clinton in 1995 while she was a White House intern. The scandal resulted in Clinton's impeachment by the Republican-led House of Representatives. He was acquitted of all impeachment charges during a Senate trial. Wildfires in Oklahoma killed at least one person and forced more than a thousand to flee their homes. In Guthrie, Okla. Monday, winds above 30 mph propelled flames from what was supposed to be a controlled burn turning them into an out- of control raging wild fire. At least 84 firefighters were treated for various heat-related illnesses including dehydration and exhaustion. The fire was contained by this morning.

Kevin Durant has plenty of scoring titles, and now, he has an MVP trophy to go with them. Kevin Durant is now adding an MVP trophy to his list of scoring titles. The Oklahoma City Thunder star won the NBA's top individual honor Tuesday, grabbing 119 first-place votes. Durant becomes the first player to win both the scoring title and the MVP Award in the same season since Allen Iverson did it in 2000-01.

It's the party of the year! Lots of familiar faces on the red carpet at the annual Met costume gala in New York City. This year's exhibit is celebrating designer Charles James. The exhibition will be in the museum's new Anna Wintour costume center.
