Veteran Saves Dog Hit by Car

MISSOURI-- Iraqi war veteran Aaron Schneider put his life on the line fighting for freedom overseas. Now back at home, he put his life on the line once more to save a dog's life.

When Schneider saw a dog get hit by a car on I-470 in Lee's Summit, Missouri, he darted across several lanes of traffic to try to save the dog's life. The dog was badly injured but Schneider says he was determined see the dog survive life after seeing so much loss during his service overseas in the Iraq war.

Schneider placed the injured dog in the back of his truck and took the beagle to get medical care.

Schneider said, "I'm just compassionate. I love animals and to see an animal get hit, I'm going to do everything I can. Saving a life, is saving a life. It doesn't matter if it's an animal or a human."

The staff at Blue Pearl Veterinary Partners named the beagle "Buster" and he's expected to make a full recovery. Schneider says he intends to adopt buster once he's discharged from the hospital.
