Witnesses: Man Brought Gun to Bar, Fired Multiple Shots

FAYETTEVILLE, AR -- A man was arrested after witnesses reported he fired a gun several times outside a bar.

According to a police report, officers responded early Sunday morning to a shots fired call near N. West Avenue. Witnesses described the suspect as a white man, wearing a green jacket, with a Razorback tattoo on his hand. Investigators tracked down their suspect, Spencer Offenbacker, sitting in his car in a church parking lot at Maple Street and West Ave.

Officers said they found a 9mm Smith and Wesson pistol, a box of 9mm ammunition and two magazines on the passenger floorboard of Offenbacker's car. Witnesses told police Offenbacker was seen displaying the pistol in a bar earlier in the evening and when he left, they said they heard shots being fired.

The police report states Offenbacker had "glassy bloodshot eyes, thick slurred speech and the strong odor of intoxicants coming from his person."

After refusing to take a field sobriety test or a breath test, Offenbacker was taken to the Washington County Jail. Offenbacker is facing charges of Driving While Intoxicated, Discharging a Firearm in City Limits and Carrying a Weapon.
