Now there is a better way to save money while shopping for your favorite products.

Why spend hours cutting coupons out of newspapers and flyers when you can download them -- directly to your smartphone?

They are called couponing "Apps" and about 53 million Americans are expected to use them this year.

Jennifer Devore, a mother of three, is one of them.

Devore visits the supermarket at least twice a week. She uses an app recommended by consumer reports called coupons.com to lower her final cost at the checkout.

"I love it because I already have my smartphone with me," Devore says.

She downloaded the coupons.com App from the App store on her smartphone and entered in her loyalty card number. This connected the App to her grocery store's loyalty card.

While shopping, Devore scans the App for products that are on sale. When she scans her loyalty card at the checkout counter, her discount is automatically applied to her bill.
