The Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Northwest Arkansas is celebrating 30 years, and roughly $4 million dollars in scholarships to local students. The group provides scholarships to single moms and dads so they can go back to school and get better paying jobs. To mark the success of its scholarship recipients, and thank its volunteers and donors, the SPSF will hold its annual Spark of Hope event at the Fayetteville Town Center Thursday night.

Christina Meeks received help from SPSF, and now helps other through her job at the United Way.

"I love getting up and going to work for United Way every day because it allows me that opportunity to share my story but to also give back to the community that embraced me and and received me here," she said. "And so it's a wonderful experience."

"We are a community supported effort," said Jody Dilday, Director of Single Parent Scholarship Fund. "We are creating better, brighter futures for single parent families by offering encouragement and access to education."
