Hundreds Come Together for LR Victory over Violence Walk

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KARK) – Hundreds gathered for a community walk Saturday morning in support of Victory Over Violence.

The goal of this event is to support neighborhoods and bringing people together.

It began with a walk through the historic Central High Neighborhood, starting in front of the school and ending at Centennial Park.

Following the walk, there was a family-friendly event with free food, kids activities, and giveaways.

This event was developed after months of meetings and brainstorming with partner organizations and leaders from across the city, including the Central High, Capitol View, Stifft Station, Heights, Hillcrest, Midtown, University District, Briarwood, Downtown and Wright Avenue neighborhoods.

Victory Over Violence was formed February 2017 following the fatal shootings of two Little Rock toddlers. The goal of the campaign is to unite community groups and leaders and be a resource for reducing violent crime and changing lives through improvements in education, jobs, mentoring and hunger.
