ROGERS, AR -- Pucker up! It's almost time to kiss a pig! It's been voted the most popular charity event in Northwest Arkansas, and Thursday the 12th annual Kiss a Pig Gala kicked off its annual fundraising efforts at Bonefish Grill in Rogers. Every year, several local business and civic leaders help raise money in our area for the American Diabetes Association. Whomever raises the most gets to kiss an actual pig during the gala in March!

"We're looking to raise over $575,000, that's our goal this year for the event, but it's an evening of fun and excitement for those in our community," says Steve Wolf, chairman of the event.

So why the pig? Well, the animal was the first source of life-saving insulin for diabetics. All the money raised from this even will help pay for diabetes research and education.

The kiss a pig gala is set for March 15 at the John Q. Hammons Center in Rogers. The band Blues Traveler will perform, and our very own Neile Jones will serve as emcee!
