Consumer Minute: Easter Sales & Looking for Love?

Easter traditionally ranks as one of the top consumer spending holidays for food, clothing, candy, flowers and gifts. The National Retail Federation is predicting nearly $16 billion dollars in sales through the Easter weekend, which would give the industry a boost. However, the average American celebrating the holiday is expected to spend less. Last year consumers spent just over $145 dollars leading up to Easter. This year that is expected to drop to about $137-dollars.

Looking for love in all the wrong places? A new survey has identified the most open minded cities in America when it comes to on-line dating. The on-line dating company, Zoosk, studied a sample of nearly 1 million members from across the country and found that Las Vegas may be the best place to find a mate. Detroit came in second followed by Columbus, Ohio Sacramento, california and San Antonio. Among the least open minded cities for dating: Raleigh, North Carolina, San Jose, California, Birmingham, Alabama, Richmond and Pittsburgh.
