Most of us want to save a buck, but always shell out for new when you buy a car seat. That comes from Credit.com, which points out it can be hard to tell if there's something wrong with a car seat - cracks and defects can be tiny - but pose a big danger. And - mattresses, buy them new. Bodily fluids, pet dander, mold, mildew, and dust mites can be hard to detect. Also - bike helmets. It can be hard to see minor crack or damage to the interior on a used helmet, and since it's designed to protect your brain, you want one in tip-top shape.

You have two weeks left to apply for health care coverage for this year through the Health Insurance Marketplace. March 31st is the deadline for open enrollment through Healthcare.gov for 2014. That's two weeks from today. Open enrollment for 2015 starts November 15th.
