Consumer Minute: March Madness Costs Employers & Adult Spring Break Trips

Turns out the cost of March Madness on the job is more than one billion dollars for every unproductive work "hour" during the first week of the NCAA tournament. That's according to outplacement firm challenger, Gray and Christmas. Fifty million people are expected to participate in office pools. Some might take minutes to fill out a bracket, while others will spend hours analyzing their picks. Then there's sneaking a few peeks at the madness and of course, talking about it. And, slower internet speeds for the whole company from those live streams.

Looking for a Spring Break that's free of spring breakers? Avoid the weeks of April 6th and 13th, to avoid the crowds of college students and families and "higher" prices. And keep in mind, many spring breakers head to Florida, Mexico and the Bahamas, so you may want to head elsewhere.
