Cross Church Leader Elected to Southern Baptist Convention President

BALTIMORE -- Cross Church Senior Pastor Ronnie Floyd was elected as the Southern Baptist Convention's president at the annual meeting Tuesday.

Dr. Floyd succeeds New Orleans pastor Fred Luter of Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, the first African American to lead the organization. when he was elected in 2012.

Floyd, who was nominated by Southern Baptist Theological Seminary President R. Albert Mohler Jr, won in a 51.62 vote of 3,553 ballots cast.

He serves as the pastor for Cross Church's five campuses in Springdale, Rogers, and Fayetteville, Arkansas and Neosho, Missouri.
