Death of Elderly Woman Ruled Homicide, Police Search for Grandson

BENTONVILLE -- Police now believe an elderly woman who's body was found in her home was a homicide.   The investigation is the result of preliminary cause of death findings by the Arkansas State Crime Lab autopsy.

On Sunday, police got a call of about a welfare concern at 3300 SW Elm Manor Drive. The caller said 76-year-old Nelma Darline Conklin had not been to work for about one week. When officers went to check on her, they found Conklin dead inside the house.

Police are now looking for Conklin’s grandson, 26-year-old Michael Eugene Conklin, who had been living at the house with her.

Nelma Conklin’s car, a silver 2013 Ford Focus with Arkansas license plate 583OCT, is also missing.

The Medical Examiner’s report is pending and other evidence related to this case will be submitted to the Crime Lab this week.
