The Northwest Arkansas Law Enforcement Memorial was held at the Fayetteville Town Center Tuesday. The memorial honored 19 officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. It's been 16 years since a Northwest Arkansas officer was killed on the job.
"They were out there protecting lives, protecting citizens and they died in the line of duty, and we want to honor their memory. I think it gives comfort to us, knowing if we are called upon to make that ultimate sacrifice, that that sacrifice will not be forgotten," said Sgt. Craig Stout of the Fayetteville Police Department.
Tuesday's event included a flag ceremony, musical performances and roses given to the families of the fallen. The memorial is held every year on National Police Officers Memorial Day.
