Fayetteville, AR - The city kicked off an Earth Week celebration Monday by installing new recycling containers downtown.

The recycling and trash collection division placed bins for bottles and cans on the Fayetteville square. The partnership with the Fayetteville Parks and Recreation Division aims to increase recycling of high quality plastic bottles, aluminum cans and glass bottles during downtown events. The city also plans to add recycling containers for Walker Park and Gary Hampton Park later this year.

More events this week include an earth day tour of the recycling and trash collection facility on Tuesday at 10 a.m. and on Thursday, Fayetteville will start distributing recycling bins to apartment complexes.
