FAYETTEVILLE -- If your spring cleaning has you clearing out the bookshelves, the students of Vandergriff Elementary will take those books.

They are collecting all types for their annual Charlie Brown Book Sale, the single largest annual fundraiser for the Fayetteville Animal Shelter.

The sale was started more than ten years ago by Vandergriff teacher Sherri Wheeler, in honor of a chocolate lab she adopted from the shelter.  The dog, named Charlie Brown, is now 12-years-old and is a big a celebrity at Vandergriff.

Gently used children's and adult books can be dropped off during regular office hours until May 17 at the front office of Vandergriff Elementary, 2975 East Township, or at the Fayetteville Animal Shelter, 1640 South Armstrong.

The sale will be held May 21 and 22 at Vandergriff Elementary from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.  Hardbacks are sold at one dollar, and paperback are only fifty cents.

The sale raised $6,250 for the shelter last year.
