Funding Finalized for Rural Benton County Ambulance Service

BENTON COUNTY, AR-- The plans are finalized to pay for rural ambulance service in Benton county through the end of the year. The quorum court had the final say Thursday night, approving a proposal to take money from reserve funds to help foot the bill.

Back in February, voters shot down an $85 per year household fee to re-imburse cities making emergency runs. Since then, the finance committee found the funds to cover the balance for the rest of this year.

More than $230,000 from the county's budget was already approved to help pay for the service this year. $450,000 was taken from the Benton county road department's paving budget. The remaining balance of more than $250,000 will now keep services running through the end of 2014.
