Just before 2:00p.m., the Springdale Police Department responded to the school after administrators at the school received multiple reports that a 15-year-old female student possibly had a gun on campus and put the school on an "alert status."
The girl police later questioned is a 10th grade student at the school but police say no weapon was found. She was detained, searched and later taken to the Criminal Investigation Division for questioning police said. Several other students were also interviewed and a search of the school was conducted.
Police said the case is under investigation.
Students were released around 3:00pm, about one hour after the "alert status" began, as officers wrapped up the investigation on scene. Busses ran normally following the lock down.
Hellstern Middle School, located next to Har-Ber campus, was never placed on lockdown. The school district released the following statement later in the afternoon:
"Springdale Har-Ber High School was on lockdown this afternoon for precautionary reasons. No students or staff are in danger. Police handled the situation superbly. The school no longer is on lockdown."
