New research reveals stroke can no longer just be considered a problem of old age. Over the past 20 years, there has been a 25% increase in the number of strokes among people aged 20 to 64, and nearly 1/3 of the total cases come from this age group. Researchers also project the amount of disability, illness and premature death caused by stroke will more than double worldwide by 2030. They say effective prevention strategies are needed for younger populations to avoid a future health crisis.
