Law Enforcement Officer Shot in Washington County

UPDATE 1:38 A.M.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, AR -- Fayetteville Police are now keeping watch over a home on South Morningside drive. They believe one of the people involved in the Washington County shooting ended up there afterward. The man was taken to the hospital for injuries to his leg. Police also discovered the white car with a black top, mentioned in the BOLO put out by Washington County, at the Morningside Drive house. Officers are keeping the car secure overnight, until they can get a warrant to search both it and the home. KNWA & FOX24 will keep you updated on this story as it continues to develop.

UPDATE 1:10 A.M.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, AR -- Investigators say one of the victims in a Wednesday night shooting was a law enforcement officer. According to authorities, the Washington County Sheriff's deputy was shot in the arm. The wounds are serious but not life-threatening. The deputy was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Lt. Young with the Sheriff's Office tells KNWA & FOX24 the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute between a father and son. According to Lt. Young, the father and son began shooting at each other after an argument. At one point, he says the mother also fired shots, hitting the deputy. She was arrested Wednesday night.


(UPDATE)) WASHINGTON COUNTY, AR-- Deputies say they've captured an armed and dangerous shooting suspect in Washington County.

According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, the incident unfolded late Wednesday night at around 9:30 on Whitehouse Road in Fayetteville.

According to Washington County Emergency Services Dispatch, one person was taken by ambulance to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.

Crews were also looking at transporting another possible victim by ambulance or helicopter.

According to the sheriff's office, the suspect left the area before units arrived, possibly driving a white car with a black top.

Deputies said they were looking for a white man driving in an unknown direction of travel, carrying a handgun.

Investigators are still on scene clearing the area.

Our crew was told by an off-duty firefighter on scene to stay in the car with the windows rolled up.

Our Christina Carilla is giving us details from the scene as they become available.

She also tells us deputies ran by her in bullet proof vests.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office tells us it will have an update throughout Wednesday night.
