FAYETTEVILLE -- A man who led officers on a high speed chase through Fayetteville faces a slew of charges.

Police arrested Jimmy Dewayne Russell, 40, after reports that Noodles restaurant, Chitwood Optical Lab and the Reptile Museum had all been broken into Tuesday.  As officers arrived to the call, they noticed a dark colored passenger car with its headlights off leaving the parking lot of Chitwood and the Reptile Museum at 60 E. Township.

Police followed as the car headed east on Appleby Road, topping speeds of 80mph near Washington Regional Medical Center.  At a curve on the road, the car lost control, crashing into a privacy fence.

Officers on the scene said Russell got out of the car through the passenger door, telling the cops "I'm drunk," then later explaining he was driving around looking for "some female company."

Russell was arrested 16 different charges including commercial burglary, fleeing, DWI and criminal mischief.  He was taken to Washington Regional for treatment of injuries.  Once released, he was booked into the Washington County Jail.

Police say about $30 was taken from Chitwood Optical and shoe prints matching Russell's were found at Noodles.
