WASHINGTON COUNTY -- A Fayetteville man will spend the rest of his life in prison for killing a woman.

Eric Frankenhauser pleaded guilty late Thursday for 1st degree murder and given a sentence of life in prison without possibility of parole in the shooting death of Jessica Stewart, according to Washington County Prosecutor John Threet. In August 2012, Fayetteville police found Stewart, who was Frankenhauser's girlfriend, lying in her own yard with a bullet wound to her head. She died in the hospital a day later.

Frankenhauser ran from the scene and police launched a multi-state manhunt. He was arrested in Ohio after three days of searching.
