BENTONVILLE, AR-- Voters have approved the district's proposal to build a second high school.

The final unofficial numbers show 8,208 voted for the issue while 3,494 voted against.

Tuesday's election was the result of months of campaigning on both sides of the issue after last year's proposal for a second high school was booted by voters.

The district reduced costs to $86 million, down from $130 million and in this third attempt, achieved the required support from the community.

The second high school will be built in Centerton and will have its own track, baseball, softball, soccer fields and indoor facilities for basketball and wrestling. But, as a cost cutting measure under the new proposal, both schools will share Bentonville High's football stadium.
